Attackers are luring Russian cryptocurrency holders into “romantic scams” involving a “multiple move” strategy – gradually luring cryptocurrencies while approaching the victim as a lover and then enabling the theft of assets.
Scammers act like cunning psychologists; They are good at reading the situation of a potential victim who may be single or married but has problems. Scammers of both genders woo the victim, ingratiate themselves with their trust, and create genuine romantic online relationships.
Then comes the request to invest in a specific cryptocurrency project that can be created specifically for the victim. A person is asked to invest in small assets and is allowed to withdraw money several times. However, when the amount reaches serious levels, the “lover/mistress” disappears with the goods.
If at the “divorce” stage the person does not realize that he is a fraudster, he will most likely lose a lot of money.
