Snapdragon X Elite is the most powerful chip for Windows computers today. 12 processor cores, 8 productive and 4 efficient, are available to you. The maximum clock frequency is 4.2 GHz. There are four configurations of this processor: X1E-84−100, X1E-80−100, X1E-00−1DE, X1E-78−100. The tested Vivobook S15 has the minimum option: X1E-78−100. You can see the features of the laptop below.
Windows runs very fast on Vivobook S15. The system starts up instantly and runs pretty smoothly overall.
Below are the comparison test results. However, it should be said that these are only preliminary. This is because computers with Snapdragon X Elite began to be sold quite recently (a few days ago). Therefore, after a few weeks, everything will have to be redone.
Most x86 applications already run on the laptop. These are Telegram, Yandex.Browser, and they are all Microsoft branded.
Games were running at 1080p. GTA 5 was running at 60fps FPS at medium settings, but sometimes the cutters were slipping. CS comes with hellish breakers so it’s impossible to play it. With Valheim optimization, everything was on high settings (20-26 fps), on medium settings you could get 50-60 fps, but sometimes there are interruptions.
Everything is bad with video and graphics due to poor optimization. For example, on DaVinci it was possible to render a 15-minute project in 4K in 48 minutes 22 seconds, and on a MacBook with M3 Max it takes 7 minutes.
Magic Mask on DaVinci doesn’t work at all, so you have to wait for updates. Neural computing on the laptop is still working. For example, when you move away from it, it closes, but when you look at it again, it opens. Also, thanks to AI, the brightness is automatically reduced.
Maximum heating under load was 42 degrees. And this is very little.
ARM versions also have various features. For example, Recall. It tracks all on-screen actions and takes screenshots of everything. Moreover, there is no limitation in the settings on how long this information is stored or tracked.
Vivobook S15 can work for 15-16 hours without charging. So it is at the same level as MacBook. It charges from 0 to 60% in 49 minutes via Type-C.
First of all, ARM laptops really have a future. Test results look encouraging. Not everything is optimized yet, but the operating system itself works well and holds the charge well. So all that remains is to wait for all the necessary applications to be launched on it.
