“The announcement indicated in large print information about the abolition of acquisition fees. And an advertisement for another financial service contained the following incorrect statements: “All transfer fees for businesses have been canceled. Open a business account at Alfa-Bank for free,” the department said in a statement.
At the same time, the antimonopoly service notes that important information about the limitations of the conditions was included in explanatory footnotes “in a manner that is difficult to understand for a short period of time.” The FAS considered that consumers received incomplete information about financial services that determine their cost.
The department recognized that both advertisements were inappropriate and issued two orders to the bank.
Earlier this week, the FAS opened a case against Alfa-Bank JSC for violations in advertising a debit card. In the last seven months, the department has opened seven cases against the lender.
