The most important thing to extend your life is to make time for physical activity. The next most important factors are quitting smoking and eating healthy.
A total of 5,222 people participated in the research. Overall, the highest healthy lifestyle score was associated with a higher chance of living to age 100.
At the same time, physical exercise can increase the chance of living up to 100 years by 31%, quitting smoking by 25%, and eating a healthy diet by 23%.
Interestingly, no significant relationship was found between alcohol consumption or body mass index and the likelihood of living to 100 years.
