Great St. Scientists of the Advanced Engineering School “Digital Engineering” of the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) have successfully completed the project to create a digital twin for oil and gas equipment in partnership with the company Centrotech-Engineering, part of TVEL. the structure is part of the state company Rosatom ” This project aims to strengthen the position of the Russian oil and gas industry.
As part of the study, digital models were developed for delivery of the selective perforation isolation complex (SIP) to the application site in the well. These complexes play an important role in hydraulic fracturing and are widely used in numerous oil and gas wells in Russia. The scientists also created digital models of structural components of the RSP complex, such as the perforator and plug packer.
The digital distribution model of the RSP complex is based on its descent along a recording cable and subsequent liquid injection from above. Mathematical and computer modeling made it possible to optimize this process by offering the most effective fluid injection modes for accurate delivery of the complex to a specific well spacing. This approach also ensures that delivery operations are economically feasible.
As a result of the use of a 1D solid-state modeling environment and a series of CFD (computational fluid mechanics) tests, the scientists were able to take into account all the forces acting on the RSP complex during interaction with the fluid. This significantly increases the accuracy and efficiency of operations related to oil and gas developments in Russia.
