The ICQ messenger has officially closed its operation, according to its website. Previously, it was one of the most popular media outlets in Russia.

“The service has completed its work. Please continue to communicate with friends on VK Messenger and with colleagues on VK WorkSpace,” the message says.
VK announced an indefinite suspension of ICQ starting June 26, 2024. The company, as reported, decided to focus on the development of VK Messenger and VK Workspace.
ICQ became part of VK in 2010 as a result of the reorganization of the DST fund, which bought ICQ in 2010 for $187.5 million.
VK relaunched ICQ in 2020, adding the quick replies feature and bot creation. Plans were later announced to restart service again.
