The growth rate of the smartphone market in Russia has decreased by about ten times. At the end of the second quarter, they increased by 5% annually compared to the same period in 2023, while a year ago – by 40-50%, writes Izvestia.

According to M.Video – Eldorado, since the beginning of the year, Russians have purchased 14.2 million such devices, which is only 8% more than in the same period last year.
According to preliminary estimates by MTS, sales in the second quarter of 2024 will amount to 6.9 million smartphones worth 158 billion rubles, 5% more than a year earlier in units and 16% in money.
Previously, Russians have been very active in purchasing smartphones. The fact that after the uproar the market returns to normal is quite natural, says Denis Kuskov, general director of TelecomDaily.
He explains this by the stabilization of the situation: there are no preconditions for a shortage, prices do not change, at least not much, so there is no reason to urgently buy a smartphone.
