As RBC writes citing Ukrainian media, which in turn cite sources, the decision to resume work was made in May, but the exact dates have not yet been announced.
According to local media, the renovation of the signage of the shopping center where the IKEA store was located has already begun.
According to a source from an international promotion company, the signal for the management of the Swedish company was the return of H&M, whose stores reopened in the country after the resumption of Inditex’s activities.
H&M stores reopened in Ukrainian cities in November 2023. Zara, Bershka, Massimo Dutti, Oysho, Stradivarius and Pull & Bear (owned by Inditex) stores opened in spring 2024. McDonald’s suspended operations in the country for a short period in 2022, but resumed operations later that year.
In Russia, all brands on the list ceased operations in 2022. IKEA sold production facilities to local companies. Mega shopping centers (owned by Ingka Centers, IKEA’s parent company) were transferred to Gazprombank.
The Russian legal entity H&M, LLC H&M, began liquidating the company in June. And instead of McDonald’s, the country operates the chain “Tasty – period”, which Rospotrebnadzor proposed to turn into the flagship of healthy food.
