Mitsubishi sedan sales have always been stable, but producing components for a relatively small (and unique) market has become economically unprofitable. This is where the reasons for the “end of an era” lie.
Topgear.com writes that the history of the Lancer model could have ended seven years ago, when the “global” sedan was withdrawn. At the same time, the model was not only produced in Taiwan, but also updated. A portrait-oriented touchscreen and a number of unusual options appeared in the cabin, and the exterior has seriously changed – all external panels have been changed.
Some time ago, Mitsubishi wanted to patent the rights to the Lancer Sportback combination, and this could be a hint that the old name could be given to the new model. Most likely, it will be an electric car, probably a crossover or a hatchback, similar to the Nissan Leaf.
