The segment of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in Russia is experiencing a shortage of IT specialists: the shortage of such employees is estimated at 130 thousand people, according to a survey by Blank Bank.

“34% of IT SMEs lack IT specialists. In absolute terms, the demand reaches 130,000 people,” the study says.

Small and medium-sized companies are primarily looking for experienced employees. The need for mid-level and senior IT specialists is 42% and 39%. The demand for junior specialists is 19%.

The highest demand among tech companies is for 1C programmers (34%), Python development takes second place (23%), and JavaScript developers take third place (16%).

It should be noted that during the year the cost of hiring specialists increased by an average of 12%. A beginner specialist will cost the company about 70 thousand rubles, an average one – 120 thousand rubles, a senior one – 170 thousand rubles.

The expenditures of the wage fund have also increased. The average salary of a beginner specialist is 130 thousand rubles, a middle one – 270 thousand rubles, a senior one – 370 thousand rubles.

During the May 2024 study, 2.5 thousand IT-SME business owners were surveyed. Salary figures and salary dynamics are based on internal analysis of the IT specialist recruitment market.
