Roscosmos head Yuri Borisov has announced the launch of production of satellite carriers in Russia. RIA Novosti reports on the head of the state corporation’s remarks.
The project will be implemented on the basis of two companies. JSC “ISS” is named after Alaska. MF Reshetnev in Zheleznogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory, has a specialized telecommunications directorate, named after him. SA Lavochkina company from Khimki near Moscow specializes in remote sensing of the Earth, Borisov noted.
Roscosmos has estimated the volume of investments required to implement the project at 60 billion rubles.
Borisov previously described the existing model of the Russian satellite industry as uncompetitive. While the United States has the capacity to produce up to 3,000 satellites a year, China – up to 1.5 thousand, Russia can produce only 40 spacecraft a year.
