A state register of private mini-hotels may appear in Russia. The initiative was announced by the head of the Ministry of Finance, Anton Siluanov, during the plenary session of the Federation Council.

Being registered implies the obligation to pay business tax.

In the first stage, hotels and non-residential premises rented to tourists are planned to be included in the register. Private houses may be included in the register at a later stage.

According to Sangadzhi Tarbaev, head of the State Duma’s tourism committee, there are about 20,000 guest houses in Russia located in the so-called grey zone.
