As part of the study, scientists analysed data from more than 365,000 people from the UK Biobank. Participants were recruited from 2006 to 2010 and followed until 2020.
It was found that people who drank two to three cups of tea or coffee every day were 32% less likely to have a stroke. Their risk of dementia was reduced by 28%. Drinking these beverages was also associated with a reduced risk of post-stroke dementia.
However, as Science Daily notes, the results of this study may be slightly inaccurate because the UK Biobank only had data from “relatively healthy representatives” of the population.
