Fikbook hosts fan works, including stories and poems based on books, films, TV series, animations and other projects. The site is the largest Russian-language platform for online publications of both fan fiction and original stories, as well as literary articles.

Earlier this week, Roskomnadzor sent a request to the site owners to remove content containing LGBT propaganda from the resource (“the international LGBT movement” is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned).

Telegram channel Fikbook confirmed the access restriction and said that “there was a misunderstanding” and the team is working to resolve it.

  • The “International LGBT Social Movement” was declared extremist at the end of 2023. According to Roskomnadzor, since the beginning of this year, the agency has blocked more than 26 thousand pages containing LGBT content.
  • In December 2022, “LGBT propaganda” was banned in Russia for all ages. If a violation is detected, an individual will have to pay a fine of up to 400 thousand rubles, and a legal entity – up to 4 million rubles.
