CnEVPost: Xiaomi can now produce cars independently
The company now has the right to design, manufacture and produce cars independently, without involving third-party contractors.
About three months ago, Xiaomi started selling its first car, the Super Ultra 7 (SU7) electric car. It was created with the help of the Chinese corporation BAIC. Now the corporation has decided to start producing cars independently.
It is known that Xiaomi actually created its first car almost from scratch, since BAIC’s participation was only necessary to obtain permission to produce this car in China. At the same time, MIIT documents, which were published in November 2023, indicate that SU7 was produced by BAIC Group, there is no mention of Xiaomi.
It was previously reported that Xiaomi fired two executives over suspicions of bribery. Both senior managers were key figures in promoting the company’s overseas expansion.
