Eyad Hametto, a Saudi Arabian, said his email, which he has been using for nearly 20 years, has been blocked, affecting all his work.
He also lost the ability to contact his family in Gaza via Skype, which had become a vital means of communication for them because of the high cost of international calls.
Microsoft noted that the blocking may be related to suspicious activity, but the company did not provide details.
