A recent study by scientists from the University of Michigan and the University of Texas in the US has identified the main reasons why young people avoid alcohol.

The main reasons include apathy towards alcohol and reluctance to get drunk. Most respondents explained their abstinence from alcohol by the fact that it interferes with their studies or work, as well as the desire to save money.

In the study, which included 614 participants aged approximately 21.5, almost half of the participants consumed alcohol in moderate amounts, approximately 31.5% drank 5-9 drinks at a time, and 18.6% consumed alcohol heavily, consuming more than 10 drinks in a day or in the evening.

Scientists have emphasized the importance of understanding personal and social factors that influence the decision to drink or abstain from alcohol in order to develop effective preventive measures against binge drinking.
