Live Translate is similar to Google Translate, differing from its competitors not only in two-way translation and text-to-speech, but also in the audio translation of actual phone conversations. Samsung is now expanding this function to popular instant messaging programs in many countries, such as KakaoTalk, Line, WeChat, WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, Google Meet and others.
Samsung introduced Live Translation for the first time with the One UI 6.1 update on S24 series smartphones as part of the Galaxy AI suite of artificial intelligence functions: the function translates regular phone conversations. With the release of One UI 6.1.1, the function will start supporting these services and translation will be performed in a single user interface.
At the presentation of the new Galaxy Unpacked products on July 10, Samsung confirmed its April statement that 3 new languages (Arabic, Indonesian and Russian) would be added to the 13 languages already supported, as well as 3 new dialects (Australian English, Cantonese and Canadian French).
