T-Bank (formerly Tinkoff) has gradually opened up access to its new “Scam Trap” service. Called scam roulette, the service routes calls from scammers to specially trained users. The task of participants is to keep scammers on the line for as long as possible in order to develop their defense skills.
Those interested can apply for participation through a special website. The service uses T-Bank and T-Mobile security technologies and works on the principle of chat roulette. It intercepts calls from real scammers and anonymously forwards them to users, luring them into the game. According to T-Bank, there is no such service in the world yet.
Tests of the scam roulette began in the spring of 2024. Several dozen users, including famous pranksters Vovan and Lexus, participated in the pilot phase. They not only detected new fraudulent schemes, but also saved the family from losing 500 thousand rubles. On average, test participants talked with scammers for 20-25 minutes, which makes it possible to disable a full-fledged call center of scammers, which earns about 53 million rubles per month.
