Review of the budget electric scooter Hiper Slim VX561 (2022) to move quickly around the city

I think no one will argue with the fact that in the summer, scooters have become among all personal “trains”. This review will focus on one of these devices. I want to draw your attention to a budget scooter called Slim VX561 from Hiper. Let’s talk about everything in order and at the end of the article I will try to point out all the shortcomings of this model.

The device comes in a large cardboard box (113.5 × 31.8 × 16.8 cm) that weighs about 10 kilograms. You can see what the package looks like in the photos below.

Inside the box you will find:

• the scooter itself;
• mains charger;
• steering wheel handles (two pieces);
• instruction manual in Russian;

Strange, but there were no hexagons on the package, apparently the manufacturers simply forgot to put them. The good news is that only one hex of the tools is needed.

As you may have guessed, the electric scooter comes almost assembled. It will take no more than five minutes to prepare for use. In my case, two were enough, I took out a scooter, unfolded the steering column, put on the handlebars and started.

The handlebars are metal and textured rubber, which bolt on without a problem. Unfortunately, the height of the steering wheel is not adjustable.

It is worth considering the small possibility that the user will have to adjust the brake cable, the control panel (where the speeds, timer, etc. are), and may also need to recharge the battery. In my case, I just had to adjust the control panel. Yes, this will require a hexagon.

Appearance

The Hiper Slim VX561 model comes in two color palettes: silver and black. I have the first version of the scooter under my feet.

I note that the appearance is neat, it does not have “vigorous colors”, the steering wheel bracket is painted with black metallic paint, the platform is made of aluminum profile, the details of the folding mechanism are made of steel.

The scooter is rear-wheel drive and its power is 230 watts. According to the standards of traffic regulations, this is the permissible power, since with such indicators it is equated with pedestrians. The diameter of the wheels is 6.5 (front) and 5 (rear) with cast tires.

Unfortunately, there is no depreciation here, so the model is only suitable for driving on asphalt or on a flat track. Overall this scooter is not shock friendly.

I was very satisfied with the folding mechanism, as it is at the same time very simple and at the same time convenient. To fold it, you need to pull the spring-loaded petal, after which it will take the following shape (see photo below). When folded, it can be easily placed in the trunk of a car.

A parking deck is provided. The scooter confidently stands on it.

The charging connector is located at the rear of the footrest. It has a special rubber stopper that serves against the ingress of moisture.

In the center of the soundboard is a coated area that looks like sandpaper. The size of the board for the legs is 70.5 centimeters, but the area that can actually be used by the legs (not taking into account the part where the rear wheel is and, consequently, the front) is 52 centimeters. And in the next photo you can see its width.

The length of the platform allows you to put both feet on it at the same time, and not keep one of them on weight. But for pair skating it is not suitable.

Let’s talk about the brake system, which is still important. There are two ways to brake: using the lever on the steering wheel and using the rear spoiler.

It is worth noting that there are no lights on the fender, only reflective decals, and those are located only on the sides of the scooter (the flash was used in the next two photos).

Let’s move on to the steering wheel, which has an assembled width of 41 centimeters. Objectively, this width is more suitable for boys or girls. The left lever is the electronic brake and the right lever is the throttle (gas).

There is a lot of information in the control panel. But before that, I will say that it only has three buttons:

• The first (upper) serves to increase the transmission speed;
• The second (middle) is used to turn the control panel on/off and also to change modes;
• The third (lowest) serves to lower the transmission rate;

The included screens show all the time:

• Charge level indicator (five segments in total);
• Selected baud rate (three levels in total);
• The current speed of the device (speedometer);

And in addition to this, you can use the center button to change modes and see information such as:

• DIS – shows the mileage during the last operating session;
• ODO – displays the mileage for the entire period of operation of the scooter;
• TIME – travel time;
• VOL – battery voltage in volts;

Exploitation

First I want to tell you about who and with what weight this scooter operated. My friend weighs about 63 kilograms and is about 180 centimeters tall.

With such dimensions, in the first gear it reaches up to 8 km/h (slightly faster than the usual pace of a pedestrian), in the second up to 15 km/h and in the third up to 20 km/h. The manufacturers claimed that the scooter is capable of traveling at a speed of 20 km/h, which is actually true. But, if the weight is about 70 kg, then the maximum speed will be about 18 km/h.

It took around five hours to fully charge the scooter. By the way, the charger indicator tells us when the scooter is fully charged (green light) or continues to recharge (red light).

The distance traveled with a full charge depends on many factors, for example, one of the most significant is weight and slope. My friend, with a weight (~63 kg), was able to drive about 8 kilometers almost on a flat road. In the following screenshots, you can see the route where the points are considered stops. In addition, you can see the maximum speed and other information. The whole trip took about 40 minutes.

At maximum speed, the braking distance with the help of the electronic brake is several meters. If necessary, you can use two braking methods at once, electronic and mechanical, then the braking distance will be almost halved. But I don’t use a mechanical one due to the fact that it erases the wheel very well.

I want to note the limited angle of rotation of the front wheel, which can very well protect scooter users from “sharp” rolling.

What I really didn’t like was that the rear fender didn’t protect the scooter user from splashes at times. I don’t know how it happened, but after driving through a couple of puddles, I saw my pants get dirty in the back. This, of course, is sad.

I also think it’s worth pointing out a feature of this scooter like free movement just by pushing with your foot.

Slim VX561 This is a great budget option for a relaxing city trip. When purchasing this type of scooter, make sure you understand that it is designed specifically for riding on a flat road. About any comfortable ride in “crooked track” it is not possible to speak, because I repeat that with the depreciation in this model, not everything is so fluid.

And yes, you will not be able to run on it, but I think this is only good for many parents and they do not want their child to fly on a scooter at a speed of 30 km/h. This scooter will not allow this.

I cannot fail to mention the ease of use, because everything is as simple as possible. We drive home, assemble it literally in 5 seconds, pick it up and drag it to the elevator, and from there you can already get to your apartment 🙂

Of all the cons I can point out:

• the rear fender does not protect well from splashes;
• lack of headlights;
• no depreciation;
