“We were shocked by the mockery of the Last Supper during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. C Spire will be pulling our advertising from the Olympics,” the company wrote on its X account.

The cause of the scandal was an episode during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, in which drag queen artists (male performers dressed as women) made reference to “The Last Supper”, a fresco by Leonardo da Vinci depicting Jesus Christ and his disciples.

American billionaire Elon Musk called the action “a blatant display of disrespect towards Christians.”

“I am proud that Mississippi’s private sector has taken a strong stand,” Gov. Tate Reeves said in support of C Spire’s decision in his X.
