According to the survey, 77% of Internet users in Russia reacted negatively to the YouTube slowdown. Only 13% of users use tools to avoid service slowdowns, and if YouTube is completely blocked, one in three respondents would prefer Telegram as an analogue of the service for watching videos.

77% of Russian Internet users reacted negatively to the slowdown of YouTube, according to the results of a survey of 1.6 thousand people conducted by the Win2Win communications agency.

“The audience’s discontent is understandable: no one else has such a large library with completely diverse content today,” emphasized Ekaterina Pickersgil, CEO of Win2Win Communications.

If YouTube is completely blocked in Russia, 27% of respondents will start using Telegram as a video viewing service. Every fourth survey participant named its Russian analogue RuTube as a YouTube replacement. 17% of respondents will prefer the VK Video platform.

“This indicates that audiences are willing to look for alternatives, but their choice will vary greatly depending on the preferences and capabilities of the platforms themselves,” the study’s authors noted.

YouTube’s slowdown began at the end of July. It was reported that the speed of video hosting would drop by 70%, but at the moment the service simply does not work for many users: the YouTube page does not open, videos do not load.

Amid the difficulties in accessing YouTube, its Russian counterpart RuTube has added the ability to transfer videos from one site to another.
