The move aims to address growing concerns about the potential misuse of artists’ AI and ensure they are given “fair compensation,” the media wrote.

Under the new deal, actors will be able to set the price of digital reproductions of their voices, and advertisers must obtain explicit permission from actors for any ads that use AI-generated voices.

SAG-AFTRA spokesperson Duncan Crabtree-Ireland stressed the importance of this agreement, which gives actors “a safe option to monetize their digital voices.”

The deal comes amid broader industry controversies, including last year’s Hollywood strike and ongoing labor disputes over AI-related protections for actors.
