Apple has entered the active development phase of a new smart home device with a screen and a robotic hand, Bloomberg reported.
The device will be similar to an iPad: the screen will rotate 360 degrees. The device can be controlled using the Siri voice assistant and the Apple Intelligence AI platform. The device will respond to commands and recognize voices.
The development of the device is overseen by the head of the HomePod speaker development department, Matt Costello, and several hundred people are working on the creation of the device. Apple itself has not commented on the development of the device.
The new product is expected to hit the market no earlier than 2026. Bloomberg estimates the device’s cost at $1,000.
