Studies have shown that silver nanoparticles are significantly more effective than foreign antibiotics. The cause of the disease is bacterial biofilms, which are difficult to treat. After the application of silver-based drugs, the biofilm formation index and the number of resistant isolates decreased by 20.4% and 35.6%, respectively. At the same time, the use of antibiotics did not lead to such results.

Project leader Professor Alexey Pestryakov noted that the use of silver nanoparticles makes it possible to overcome the resistance of biofilms to conventional antibiotics and disinfectants.
