According to Daniil Shevyrev, a senior researcher at the university, the main problem with aging is the accumulation of senescent cells that disrupt metabolism and cause chronic inflammation. The new approach uses T-cell immunity to specifically remove these cells from the body.
The development of a vaccine based on adaptive immunity would help restore the body’s ability to clear old cells and prevent age-related diseases. Daniil Shevyrev added that in the future, such methods could change approaches to prolonging healthy aging and creating personalized therapies.
