Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 was launched this Tuesday (20). The new chipset aimed at mid-range mobile phones promises to offer more performance, better support for camera image processing and a more efficient NPU.
THE Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 has a similar core set to Snapdragon 7s Gen 2: It has four Cortex-A720 units (one at 2.5 GHz, the other three at 2.4 GHz) and four Cortex-A520 cores, all at 1.8 GHz and focused on energy efficiency. The graphics come from the Adreno GPU.
Although the composition is recognizable, the difference lies in the structure. THE 4nm lithography (TSMC N4P) provides 20% better CPU performance and up to 40% on the GPU compared to the previous model.
Moreover, Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 spec sheet looks familiarThe component supports LPDDR5 working memories up to 3,200 GHz or LPDDR4X up to 2,133 MHz.
In terms of cameras, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 could hold a triple sensor, provided that each is 21MP or less. If it’s dual, the main lens could be 32MP but the secondary lens could only be 21MP. Finally, 10-bit HDR and 4K videos supported.
Like its predecessor, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 supports H.265, HDR10, HDR10+, and HGL videos. AV1 decoding is not available.
More powerful for AI
Task acceleration with artificial intelligence (AI) occurs via the Hexagon NPU. now 30% better than Snapdragon 7s Gen 2While not the most powerful option on the market, it will suffice for processing more economical small language models (SLMs).
Finally, as expected for a chipset of this level, 5G mmWave connection supportedWi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 and LE (Low Energy) Audio.
According to Qualcomm, Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 to be released in the coming months Inside the mobile phones from Xiaomi, Realme and Sharp. There is no exact date for the announcement of any device from the mentioned brands.
