With the recent launch of the Ryzen 9000 processors, Asus has revealed its new motherboard portfolio featuring the new high-end X870E chipset. The Taiwanese company has introduced nine models in total, including versions aimed at avid gamers and even content creators.
As it should be, the ultimate version of the new series is the ROG Strix X870E HERO. Offering a solid design, the motherboard features a mini LCD display above the I/O connectors, as well as a nice metal plate for M.2 SSDs. The board supports speeds of up to 8,200 MT/s and supports NitroPath technology, which produces an additional 400 MT/s.
Some other versions are similar in some aspects, such as the ROG STRIX X670E-E Gaming WIFI, ROG Strix X870-F, and ROG STRIX X870-A. All of these models maintain their solid builds, good heat dissipation, and four RAM memory slots with up to 8,400 MT/s.
Mini-ITX and ProArt for content creators
One of the interesting announcements is the ROG STRIX X870-I Gaming WIFI. This motherboard, unlike other motherboards, works in mini-ITX format for compact cases with two RAM slots. On the other hand, users who prefer the reinforced model will have the TUF Gaming X870-PLUS WIFI, which reflects the military concept.
Asus also introduced the new ProArt X870E Creator WIFI, specifically developed for content creators with a range of ports and connectivity for professionals. Finally, the PRIME X870-P is the most basic model in the portfolio, intended to be a cost-benefit option for those looking to own this chipset.
All X870 motherboards retain the AM5 socket, which is backwards compatible with Ryzen 7000 CPUs and coolers, meaning users won’t need to buy new air or water coolers. Asus hasn’t yet announced pricing for these models, but they’re expected to launch on September 30.
