In the second quarter of 2024, the Bank of Russia recorded a record amount of funds stolen from Russians’ bank accounts, according to the Central Bank’s review.

Between April and June this year, fraudsters stole 4.8 billion rubles from bank accounts. The bulk of this (2 billion rubles) was made by card transfers. 1.5 billion rubles were stolen through the fastest payment system, three times more than the previous year.

The average amount of theft through SBP was 33.3 thousand rubles, through remote banking channels – 56.5 thousand rubles. The total average amount of money stolen from one person increased to the maximum in a year and a half and reached 18.6 thousand rubles.
