The figure of more than 400 rubles was the highest in the past nine years, RBC writes. In 2023, the cost of visiting a cinema was reduced by about 120 rubles, and in the summer of 2022, a session cost Russians 260 rubles.
Despite the high price tag, more than two million moviegoers visited cinemas across the country in the first week of August 2024. And last August, this figure varied significantly from week to week depending on the film releases.
This season there are not so many new high-quality films and the interest of Russians in film premieres can be considered low. That is why raising prices is one of the measures that can help a business stay afloat, said Pavel Ponikarovsky, owner of the Lumen cinema chain, to the journalists of the publication.
In early August, RB.RU reported that the Russian film distribution market had reached 28.7 billion rubles in the first seven months of this year. About 30% of the total number of films are domestic films.
