On weekends, during the main session, the most liquid stocks, OFZ, high-grade corporate bonds, as well as futures and options can be traded on the Moscow Stock Exchange. But brokers are ambiguous about such prospects.
“The Moscow Exchange, in accordance with requests from market participants, began discussing possible trading options over the weekend,” a representative of the site said.
Trading is scheduled to begin at 9:50 Moscow time with opening auctions, followed by the opening of the main trading session (after 10 minutes). Trading on the stock market will end at 19:00, and on the futures market at 18:50.
The most liquid shares, bonds of highly rated issuers, OFZs and fund shares will be sold on the stock market. The entire set of tools will be made available as a matter of urgency.
“The timing of the implementation of this service and its parameters will be discussed in the future with the participants and the regulator,” the Moscow Exchange said.
According to the Bank of Russia, market participants are discussing the feasibility of conducting operations on weekends and the concept of trading securities on organized and over-the-counter markets around the clock in order to form a comprehensive position that takes into account primarily the interests of investors.
Investors have been discussing the possibility of trading not only on weekdays for over a month now. In June, the Moscow Stock Exchange noted that traders often do not have enough time to implement investment decisions five days a week.
