The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) announced that it is provoking cases against MTS, MegaFon and Beeline.

Cause: Telecom operators were supposed to cancel the payment for over-the-air telephone communication when leaving the territory of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. However, the companies did not do this.

Tele2 will first cancel the additional fee in the territory of Crimea. This happened before October 8, 2024, in connection with the technical implementation process, the department noted.

MegaFon commented on the FAS statement to the editors of iPhones.ru:

Our position remains unchanged. We work in Crimea through the infrastructure of local operators and small roaming costs. As a result, the cost of communication for our subscribers largely depends on the prices for the services of these operators. We constantly communicate with our friends indoors about the sound rates for communication for our subscribers.

We are ready to present our arguments to the FAS as part of the consideration of cases and hope that the antimonopoly service will voice them.

As the department notes, conditions have now been created for all telecom operators to return additional fees. Tariffs for services for inter-operator roaming interaction in countries have been reduced by 2-3 times as a result of the consideration of the antimonopoly case against K-Telecom LLC.

If the FAS establishes the guilt of the operators, they will be fined or issued demands for the inheritance of the income received to the federal budget. [ФАС]
