All Tesla electric vehicles are equipped with a large touch screen that completely controls all the devices in the car.
This was originally Tesla’s unique position, but today its approach has been adopted by all major automakers.
However, in terms of software, Tesla is still one of the market leaders, offering a huge list of features and a well-supported system. Now let’s look at it in more detail.
1. Home screen
The home screen of all Teslas is broken into several parts.
On the left side it displays information about the car: open doors, various errors, charging information, headlights on, speed and messages.
On the right there is navigation with a search bar.
Below is a stump with frequently used applications, as well as the climate control system and the door button.
2. Autopilot
All new Tesla vehicles have the ability to activate Autopilot.
When the autopilot is running, the blue stripes around the car on the display are the road markings. Users can also select a point on the map and drive to it using the autopilot.
3. Karaoke
In 2019, Tesla added a microphone to the season, displaying song lyrics on the car screen.
In addition, the company has introduced a set of two Tesla Mics for $188 so that drivers and passengers can sing along. They have become very popular in China and sold out for a while.
The function only works in parking lots, so you won’t be able to sing your favorite songs into the microphone while driving.
4. Biological weapons protection mode.
Tesla Model X and Model Y vehicles, as well as later versions of the Model S and Model 3, are equipped with a HEPA filtration system that causes active chemicals to enter the vehicle’s interior.
According to Tesla, the cleaning function removes more than 99.97% of dust, dirt, mold, damage and any airborne particles.
5. Streaming and video games
Tesla supports YouTube, Netflix, Hulu and Twitch apps.
The system also has a game store. You can use a steering wheel or a PlayStation 5 controller to control the game.
All these functions work only in the parking lot. But many owners note their usefulness, because they help to pass the time in a traffic jam.
6. Browser
Tesla cars have a full-fledged browser that allows you to open any website.
It runs on Chromium (the same engine used in Google Chrome).
Apart from the fact that it works in the car, it’s otherwise a regular browser with history support, bookmarks, autofill, and tabs.
7. Dog mode
Tesla has a Dog Mode feature that allows you to deliver your pets in the car during the summer.
This feature maintains a comfortable temperature in the car when the driver is not there, and also allows you to view video from the interior camera to check on your pets.
8. Security Mode
All Tesla vehicles include Sentry Mode, which follows the car while parked.
When the car is locked, it records video from all cameras. If it detects danger, such as someone hitting the car or trying to break into it, it will flash the headlights, turn on the alarm, and display a warning on the screen that video surveillance is in progress.
On the phone in an emergency situation.
9. Various Easter eggs
Tesla regularly adds Easter eggs to their firmware that don’t provide any benefit, but are fun additions to regular updates.
For example, there was a Santa mode that was activated by the phrase “Ho-ho-ho” and changed the image of the car to Santa on a sleigh.
Romance mode displays a video of the Campfire, increases the temperature in the cabin and turns on romantic music.
There was also an interesting Easter egg referencing the movie Back to the Future that would only activate when there were exactly 121 miles of range left.
10. Hard mode
Tesla’s Performance all-wheel drive models have a Ludicrous Plus mode that allows you to squeeze the most out of the car.
When the battery warm-up mode is turned on, it is allowed to reach the minimum level, the torque is increased by 60% to accelerate as quickly as possible.
11. Voice control
Tesla has voice control, but it is not a full-fledged assistant.
It only responds to the command of the team. The list is quite large.
To enable voice control, press the right wheel on the steering wheel.
12. Video recorder
Tesla cars are included in the dash cam.
All records are stored on a separate flash drive, which is installed in the slot on the glove compartment.
There is also an option to save the last 10 minutes of recording after clicking on the rule signal.
13. Joe Mod
This function is the illumination level of the built-in signals and warnings.
It will come in handy in cases where someone spits in the car and you don’t want to wake them up with loud and sudden Tesla sounds.
14. Functionality test mode
This name hides a function that allows you to play pranks on passengers.
After turning it on, you need to choose from which place the farting sound will come.
If the vehicle has a pedestrian monitoring system, this quality check mode can play this sound through external speakers so that it can be heard on the street.
15. PIN code for the janitorial
All Teslas have the ability to lock the glove compartment with a four-digit PIN code.
A convenient feature that is very rare in cars.
This is Tesla’s signature approach.
Tesla has always provided software for its electric vehicles, which is very popular among competitors.
While other manufacturers continue to remain “serious”, Tesla is not afraid to experiment and have fun. At the same time, it has added non-obvious, but really useful features, some of the users suggested to Elon Musk in X.
