From September 1, mobile Internet in the Moscow and St. Petersburg Underground will become unlimited for all subscribers whose tariffs include gigabyte packages.

To take advantage of the offer, just go down to the metro. The operator will automatically transfer you to unlimited.

In honor of the launch of new news, MegaFon shared some statistics on Internet usage in the corresponding subways:

► the volume of traffic in the capital’s underground increased by 115%, in St. Petersburg – by 48%

► the most common age of passengers in the Moscow metro: 36-46 years

► more than 53% of the total traffic in such subways comes from Telegram, Kinopoisk, Vkontakte and YouTube

MegaFon constantly monitors the network load level in the “Two Tables” metro. Thus, in the St. Petersburg metro, since the beginning of the year, specialists have been upgrading equipment at all stations, in vestibules and inside tunnels. Already now, the speed in MegaFon networks on the Moskovsko-Petrogradskaya (blue) metro line increased by 20%.

Moscow is not left without attention either. By the end of 2024, the Potapovo station of the Sokolnicheskaya Line and the first section of the Troitskaya Line will be opened in the capital. MegaFon engineers are already working on the construction of a global network so that mobile Internet for passengers will be available from the first day of the study.

In 2023, the Moscow and St. Petersburg metros carried a total of almost 2.7 billion passengers. Most of them watch TV series, browse social networks, and listen to music while traveling. From September, no traffic will be used for any of this.
