The AI GigaChat will play a key role in this ambitious effort, training itself on surviving drafts, archival material and expert research to help reconstruct a text that the author himself destroyed more than 170 years ago.
The project is called “Dead Souls. The Second Volume. Resurrection”, which promises to give readers back the opportunity to get to know new and old heroes through the prism of Gogol’s author’s style recreated by the neural network.
This will be the first time in the world that a novel has been restored using artificial intelligence, opening up new perspectives for the research and preservation of cultural heritage.
Sber has experience working with AI to revive lost cultural assets, including projects to decipher Peter I’s manuscripts and reconstruct paintings lost during the war.
