“By the end of July, the number of tourists visiting our country reached 35 million. Until the end of 2024, we maintain the target of 60 million tourists and 60 billion dollars in tourism revenue,” Erdogan was quoted as saying by TRT Harber television channel.

The Turkish head of state added that Istanbul International Airport operates on average more than 1,500 flights per day, making it the busiest airport in Europe.

Last year, 56.7 million tourists visited Turkey and the industry’s revenue amounted to 56 billion dollars. According to Erdogan, the number of tourists who visited Istanbul in the first six months of 2024 reached 26.137 million. This figure increased by 14% year-on-year.

Summing up the results of this year’s summer season, representatives of the Russian tourism industry reported that Turkey remains the undisputed leader among Russian holiday destinations. At the same time, the average cost of the tour increased to 237 thousand rubles.
