In addition to announcing its everyday laptops at IFA 2024, Acer has also refreshed its gaming laptop portfolio with the new Acer Nitro V14 and V16. Perhaps the highlight of the company’s gaming lineup, though, is the Predator Orion 7000, a pre-assembled desktop featuring an RTX 4090 and a future Intel processor.
Like the other computers in the series, the Orion 7000 doesn’t hide its gaming aesthetics with a solid and well-customized chassis. Underneath the whole case, the manufacturer lists that the product is equipped with a future Intel processor codenamed Arrow Lake, which should be released soon, but doesn’t give any details.
Acer is using a new type of motherboard with the LGA-1851 socket that was shown to the public at Computex 2024, certainly to have a processor in this set in the machine. In addition, the set is compatible with up to 128 GB of RAM, a 6 TB NVMe SSD and has a GeForce RTX 4090 installed.
To ensure good thermal flow in the case, Acer has gone with a system called CycloneX 360. This means a case with four heat exhaust fans and a 360mm water cooler mounted on the top with a powerful 3,400RPM RGB pump.
Acer Nitro V 16 and 14
When it comes to laptops, Acer has decided to update the Nitro V 16 that was launched a while ago. The company has now added Intel processors like the Intel Core i7-14650HX and Core i5-14450HX to its lineup. These CPUs add up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM and up to 2TB of NVMe SSD.
In terms of graphics, this model has GeForce RTX 3050, 4050 and 4060 options. As for the display, there are versions with Full HD+ display (1,920×1,200) at 165Hz and Quad HD+ (2,560×1,600) and 180Hz. Its smaller sibling, the Acer Nitro V 14, runs at the same resolution as these two types of displays, but its refresh rate is limited to 120Hz.
The company has used only AMD processors for this laptop, so users can choose between the Ryzen 7 8845HS or the Ryzen 5 8645HX with Ryzen AI technology. This laptop is also equipped with up to 32GB DDR5 RAM, 2TB SSD, and graphics cards like the GeForce RTX 2050, 3050, and 4050.
Price and availability
Available in North America between September and October, the Acer Nitro V 16 has a suggested price of $1,299 (approximately R$7,300 in direct conversion) and the Nitro V14 has a suggested price of $1,099 (R$6,200).
There is no word on the launch of the Acer Predator Orion 7000, and details are expected to be revealed only after Intel’s Arrow Lake processors are fully unveiled.
