Google’s virtual fitting room now supports dresses. Part of Google Shopping, this functionality lets you preview how an item of clothing will fit on your body.

According to Google, this functionality will be built directly into the search app. Search for an outfit (in this case, a dress) and tap the “Try On” button. to see what the product should look like on one of the available models.

Google opened its virtual locker room in June 2023. The tool uses generative artificial intelligence “dressing” the chosen piece, representing the cuts, folds and style of the garment to the wearer.

THE Google tool supports a wide range of sizesSwitching from XXS to XXXL. Parts support for brands SIMKHAI, Boden, Staud, Sandro and Maje is available.

The dresses were tough

Adding dresses to the virtual dressing room’s clothing catalogue was not so easyAccording to Google. These pieces have unique compositions, cuts and styles that differentiate them from other simple categories.

To solve this problem, Google needed to develop a new model training strategy that starts with low-resolution images and gradually includes more detailed files.

Another technique needed to enable virtual try-on of dresses was the VTO-UNet Diffusion Transformer (VTO-UDiT), which helps combine the features of the model’s body with the cut of the dress.

Unfortunately for Brazilians, Google’s virtual locker room is only available to users in the United States.
