Gemini will now help you find photos and videos in Google Photos; see how

Google Photos’ AI search tool was put to the test in the app. The feature uses Gemini’s multi-modal capabilities to identify elements of photos in the gallery and find files based on text descriptions.

The tool works in two steps: First, it understands the user’s text request using Gemini’s natural language database; and it prepares a response by scanning all files (photos and videos) stored in the cloud.

Processing takes place in the cloud

In the feature announcement, Google stresses that personal photos will never be used for advertising purposesBut the prompts can be reviewed by humans; only text prompts, not images.

The company also processes personal data Will not be used to train Gemini models or other Google products. In each case, the warning suggests that, unlike local solutions, the analysis and processing of information takes place remotely within Google servers.
