He was asked whether Durov complies with the prescribed conditions of judicial control and comes to “report” to the police.

“This is entirely within the framework of cooperation with the judiciary at the moment,” responded Paris prosecutor Laure Beco.

The decision to launch an investigation specifically against Durov was taken due to Telegram’s lack of response to requests from French investigators. The prosecutor also notes that there was a desire to prove that “in a world that is too often considered virtual, organized crime is developing.”

Beko notes that there is a law in France that allows for the prosecution of internet platform operators for illegal transactions. Asked whether authorities are prepared to arrest Elon Musk’s Chapter X the next time he visits the country, the prosecutor did not respond.

In early September, the French prosecutor’s office did not confirm reports that Telegram founder Pavel Durov, who had previously been released on bail, could leave the country within six months.
