The appeal alleges that prosecutors presented a misleading narrative that portrayed Bankman-Fried as someone who intentionally caused the collapse of FTX and embezzled billions of dollars. The legal team argues that this presentation was influenced by a broader, biased narrative perpetuated by the media and government officials, and that they believe it unduly influenced the outcome of the case.

Benkman-Fried’s lawyers also argue that jurors were misled by only partial information about FTX’s finances. They say that if the jury had been given more complete information, including evidence that FTX had sufficient assets to pay off debts to customers, the verdict would have been different.

The appeal asks the appeals court to overturn Bankman-Fried’s conviction and possibly order a new trial before a different judge.
