According to a joint statement from the companies, starting in early 2025, residents of Austin, Texas, and Atlanta, Georgia, will be able to order a self-driving taxi at X, Green, Comfort, and Comfort Electric rates on the Uber app.

Uber will provide fleet management and maintenance services for Jaguar I-Pace electric vehicles, including washing, repairs and more. Waymo will provide roadside assistance, as well as being responsible for software upgrades and communicating with riders about urgent issues.

Waymo and Uber announced their collaboration in May 2023. As the taxi aggregator’s CEO Dara Khosrowshahi recalled, the company has already successfully launched an unmanned taxi in the city of Phoenix (Arizona) “for tens of thousands of passengers.”

This spring, the Alphabet-owned self-driving taxi software developer received permission to carry passengers in California — parts of Los Angeles and the San Francisco Peninsula.
