AMD has been developing FSR4 for about a year to improve frame rendering and interpolation using AI, aiming to “remove the limitations of previous versions.”
Huynh emphasized that the main purpose of FSR4 is to increase the battery life of portable gaming devices. FSR4 is expected to offer frame rate locking to optimize power consumption.
While FSR4 is initially targeted at portable devices, AMD’s history suggests the technology will be adapted to a variety of GPUs.
The release date for FSR4 is unknown.
