Cobra Core: Intel’s new architecture should focus on single core

Intel has been making constant changes to its processor lineup in recent years, and it looks like the blue company is working on a new architecture for the future. The architecture, called Cobra Core, was discovered on a LinkedIn profile of a company employee and should focus more on single-core performance and efficiency.

Few details are known about Cobra Core, but according to Gamma0Burst miners who discovered the project, it will be a few years before this architecture is released. This is mainly because the technology continues to evolve and the company needs to make a new move for x86 chips.

In addition to Cobra, Intel is also actively working on the Royal Core architecture, which is planned to be released with Nova Lake processors in 2026-2027. The next generation, which marks the absolute end of hyperthreading technology in Intel products, should be released for laptops and desktops.

Arrow Lake to begin changes

In fact, this movement will likely start this year with Arrow Lake models that will be released without hyper-threading. Arrow Lake is built on the Lion Cove architecture, which is also found in Lunar Lake for thin, portable devices.

Intel will introduce the Royal Core architecture only with Nova Lake. Later, the company may release models codenamed Beast Lake with a technology update. The expectation is that the chips will continue in a modular format using tiles.

Intel seems to have a well-defined future with Royal and Cobra Cores, but it will still be a few more years before we see processors with these concepts in practice.
