If you want to prevent or control metabolic syndrome, eat the following fruits.
PomegranateEmily Wood, RD, notes that pomegranates help increase the healthy gut bacteria Akkermansia, which helps maintain a healthy metabolism, promotes good health, promotes a healthy body weight, and strengthens the immune system.
Watermelon. Research shows that people who ate two cups of watermelon for four weeks felt less hungry and more full than those who ate low-fat cookies. Their weight and blood pressure also decreased. Watermelon is high in water, nutrients (potassium, vitamin C, magnesium), and antioxidants, says Moushumi Mukherjee, MS, RD, a registered dietitian in private practice in Michigan.
Blackberry. These fruits have a low glycemic index. They contain potassium, calcium and magnesium, which lower blood pressure. Blackberries are rich in fiber, which keeps you full and helps maintain blood sugar balance.
Citrus Fruits. These are fruits that are good for metabolic syndrome. They contain potassium, vitamin C, and fiber and are part of the DASH diet, which is recommended to control hypertension. Flavonoids in citrus fruits help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress and increase insulin sensitivity.
Grape. Studies show that it lowers blood pressure, triglycerides, total cholesterol, and bad cholesterol. Pair grapes with a source of protein to prevent blood sugar spikes.
Apples. They contain fiber and antioxidants. Moreover, the latter is found in the shell.
