Gmail has been adding AI features to help users for a while now, but now it looks like Gemini has been included in the messenger as well. The Android Authority website has managed to enable the functionality while Gmail is open, revealing that Gemini now has near-native integration with the app.
To perform the procedure, users must have an email address open and press the command that activates Gemini on their smartphone. The AI automatically opens a list of options such as summarizing the content, suggested answers, listing actions, and there is also a field where the user can write or say what they want to do.
This option seems to be integrated with a new Gemini feature that can “read” the smartphone screen and perform certain actions. This integration, in addition to the features of Gmail, allows you to activate the assistant while the user is watching a video on YouTube and the AI can search for answers related to the content.
The twins are getting smarter
While interesting, Gemini’s options are very similar to what the Gmail app already offers natively, it’s nice to know that Google is expanding the assistant’s capabilities to make it even more useful to users.
In the company’s latest presentation, Google revealed that Gemini will gain new types of voices to talk to users, giving the AI a more expressive tone. The idea is that this technology will become increasingly responsive over time.
To access AI options in Gmail, users must be a participant in the Google Workspace Labs program or a subscriber to Google One AI Premium.
