Scientists from Penza State University (PSU) have found a way to increase the accuracy of measuring instruments by eliminating instrumental error. The press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation reports that this discovery can significantly improve the quality of measurements in the medical, oil and gas, food and other industries. According to representatives of the university, the new invention will make the process more efficient and save money in production.

The developer of the method and the head of the Department of Electric Power and Electrical Engineering of the PSU Vasily Ashanin explained that the innovation concerns electrical measuring equipment. Scientists have patented a method for determining the inductance and capacitance of sensors and testing it on a prototype. This allows you to significantly reduce the number of components in the measuring circuits, which reduces the error.

Associate Professor Sergei Larkin explained that errors in measurements, for example, on scales, can seriously affect the final results. Current systems are quite complex and do not compensate for errors, but the new approach uses only one microcontroller to process data. As a result, measurements will be more accurate and users will only see the final values on the screen. Scientists are confident that the new technology will be easy to implement and will be useful for a variety of devices, from scales to medical devices.
