The European Union has warned Apple that it must open up its iPhone and iPad operating systems to save money.

EU watchdogs have announced under the Digital Market Act that consumers must comply with the law. The company’s operating systems “must be fully functional with third-party technologies.” The Brussels-based authorities have given Apple six months to comply or face a fine.
