According to Kotaku, Ellis, who has more than seven years of experience at Bungie, informed employees of his decision last week, although his LinkedIn profile still lists it as his previous position.

According to reports, uncertainty reigns at the studio: many developers have updated their portfolios in anticipation of possible layoffs, and some have left the company. It’s a worrying trend for Sony, with Bungie announcing significant layoffs in July and Naughty Dog recently canceling a planned multiplayer game based on The Last of Us.

Sony has yet to comment on the situation.
