The volume of investments in money market exchange-traded funds (MTIF) has exceeded 500 billion rubles. Since the beginning of 2024, the amount has increased 2.2 times, the press service of the Moscow Exchange reported.

In 2024, Russians made transactions with money market funds worth 1.8 trillion rubles, the average daily trading volume was 9.6 billion rubles. A private investor invested an average of 690 thousand rubles in BPIF, the Moscow Stock Exchange reported.

Since the beginning of 2024, the number of people investing in BPIF on the Moscow Exchange has doubled: their number has exceeded 700 thousand people.

By the end of 2023, investments in money market funds increased 15 times year-on-year and their volume exceeded 200 billion rubles. The popularity of this investment instrument grew throughout the year against the background of an increase in the official interest rate of the Central Bank, as reported by the Moscow Exchange.

Money market funds are an alternative to bank deposits. Currently, there are 12 such funds represented on the Moscow Stock Exchange from nine management companies.
